Meeting the people behind CNCF, OpenInfra and the Linux Foundation
On 23 July I had the opportunity to meet Jonathan Bryce, Executive Director of CNCF and the OpenInfra Foundation, and Thierry Carrez, General Manager of the OpenInfra Foundation and of Linux Foundation Europe, together with Allison Price and Jimmy McArthur from the OpenInfra Foundation, when they visited Viettel Networks in Hanoi. I am grateful to have been part of that meeting.

Much of my open source work happens inside projects these foundations look after: Kubernetes docs, the CNCF Glossary, HAMi. Usually that means pull requests and review comments with people I only know by their GitHub handle. Meeting the people who hold the whole thing together, in person, was something I didn’t expect to get the chance to do, and I learned a lot from listening to them.
The OpenInfra Foundation shared the visit on LinkedIn: a conversation about open source trends, sovereign AI, and what open infrastructure means for Vietnam’s growing open source community.

Two days later, on 25 July, they spoke at KCD & OpenInfra Days Vietnam 2026, the same event where I gave the HAMi talk with Reza Jelveh: the recap.
A few weeks after that, the certificate in my HAMi Contributor Recognition box carried Jonathan Bryce’s signature, which meant a little more after having met him.
